First Listen: Van Halen’s New Single,”Tattoo”

What could possibly be the mother of all comebacks, and the news diehard Van Halen fans have been hoping and praying for.

The band is not only announcing the release of a brand new album, ‘A Different Kind of Truth’, but also-wait for it-the first to feature David Lee Roth in more than 15 years!

Yes, you’ve read that right.

The song “Tattoo,” the first single off the album, sees the return of Roth at his absolute finest (er, and we don’t mean just vocally), delivering a gritty brand of blues-rock, filled with raw, sure to amuse tattoo-inspired lyrics, that include the likes of “Elvis on my elbow”, “Swap Meet Sally” and “trampstamp.”

And then there’s the mastery of Eddie Van Halen, who delivers a killer guitar solo, and who has undoubtedly passed some of that genius onto his son, Wolfgang, who’s an amazing bassist and official member of the band.

Despite the long separation, there’s no doubt the band’s chemistry remains very much intact to the delight of its fan base and the song is nothing short of an incredible choice for a first single.

But we’ll stop the chatter for now and let you witness the magic for yourself.

Here’s Van Halen with “Tattoo:”

Exclusive! Watch Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves of Destiny in “Sweet Tooth Bird” (New Video)

A few weeks back, we introduced you to a brilliant emerging artist, Beth Jeans Houghton, and her band, The Hooves of Destiny. Click here for that article.

Like Lady Gaga– and we hope she’ll forgive the repeat comparisons-Beth Jeans Houghton is one to watch, if nothing else, because artistically, she embodies the “whole package”. What do we mean, you ask?

She’s unique in nearly every sense. Visually, she’s unmatched. Vocally, well, the girl can sing. The band’s music- unlike anything we’ve heard in a while. And, as we just discovered, she has a talent for directing.

On that note, we’re excited to bring you Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves of Destiny‘s most recent video, “Sweet Tooth Bird”, directed by none other than, you guessed it, the lead vocalist herself.

The track is off the band’s upcoming debut album, ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose’, scheduled for release on February 28, on Mute.

Exclusive! Watch Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” (Official Video)

Several “tease” versions later and Lana Del Rey‘s official video for her latest single, “Born to Die”, has finally been released.

Put simply, the video is a stunning, ultra sensual art piece, which serves as great visual reference for the rather tragic tale told by the song.

Sadly, the video release did not come with the type of fanfare the singer expected. She announced this morning, from Beijing, that she was forced to quickly release the video because it was being leaked from Russia. The statement read:

“Generally, I’m a man of few words, but i will say that this video is the most beautiful thing i’ve ever done.
I hope you like it- this isn’t the time or way i wanted to show you the video but im in Beijing with no access to social media, and the videos been leaked from Russia so someone is posting this for me.”

The official video follows three other previously released versions of the song- the first, a live performance in Glasgow, another as a still photo published on YouTube and the most recent, a live poolside performance at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

So without further delay, here’s the black-and-white video, obtained via IFC.

On Jan. 2, English indie folk band Noah And The Whale, will be releasing their new single “Give It All Back”, and we have the supporting video premiere right here.

The video, directed by none other than the band’s frontman Charlie Fink, is something of an autobiographical ode to friendship and coming of age.

Watch New Video: Florence and the Machine “No Light, No Light”

We are bringing you the latest video from Florence and the Machine in support of their upcoming new single “No Light, No Light”, to be released on Jan. 16 on Island. They will also be releasing remix versions of the single by Dave Sitek and Breakage.

“No Light, No Light” is a track off the band’s new album, Ceremonials, and its accompanying sinister video is, at times, reminiscent of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” with church scenes and, in particular, a dancing voodoo doll.

You decide.

Destroyed, which Moby describes as “a soundtrack for empty cities at 2 A.M.,” was produced by the artist and mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, M83).

The new deluxe edition will include a 3-disc set that features unreleased tracks, live footage and videos. The deluxe edition will also include a 24-page booklet with all new photographs taken by Moby.

Disc one is the original album with all 15 tracks. Disc two features eight new tracks, plus alternate versions of tracks from Destroyed. Disc 3 is a DVD of all the music videos from Destroyed, including Moby’s self-made videos for “Be The One”, “Sevastopol”, and “Victoria Lucas”, plus the 10 finalist videos from the Saatchi and Saatchi video competition, and two Wilcox Sessions videos.

Moby will release two new singles off the album — “After”, out November 21st and “The Right Thing” (featuring Inyang Bassey), out December 13th and the supporting music videos for both tracks were shot by new directors who entered and won the Saatchi & Saatchi and Vimeo competition, for which Moby provided 3 songs from Destroyed.

Here’s the video for “After” shot by one of the 10 finalists, Antonin Pevny, from Austria.

Here’s the single “The Poison Tree”, off  Disc 2 of Destroyed Deluxe. The song was previously released as part of the Download For Good compilation in support of the David Lynch Foundation.
